Sometimes you may think your resume needs a little spicing up with the help of a fib or two. If that’s the case, you may want to make sure your lies aren’t quite as noticable as the ones found in this list.
A few examples include, claiming to be a CEO when they were making hourly wages, inventing a school that doesn’t exist, and listing military experience that dated back to before the candidate was born. I’ve had to look through numerous resumes myself and one thing people seem to keep lying about is the amount of experience they have with the specific technology that the job requires. It’s quite amazing how often they put that they have worked with the technology for longer than it has even existed. Don’t know about you, but that’s seems like a bit of a give away to me.
File that under false advertising.

I’m all for religious tolerance and am against discrimination in the workplace, but when you decide to sue your former employer because they asked you to do a common task that’s against your beliefs, perhaps you shouldn’t have taken the job in the first place?
This is another one of those cases where common sense seems to be left by the wayside as a person’s sense of entitlement takes over. The guy in the story took a job that involves transporting very goods, and it turns out that some of those goods just so happen to be alcoholic beverages. I think it’s up to the employee to find out if the job they take involves anything that’s against their beliefs, not the employer. In fact, in the United States, you can get into quite a bit of trouble if you ask about a potential employee’s beliefs in an interview.
Just because you have certain beliefs that prohibit you from doing certain tasks at a job, doesn’t mean you are entitled to getting out of those tasks without consequence. That’s like a vegetarian suing McDonalds because they had to cook hamburgers. You’re free to believe in whatever you’d like. You’re also free to find a job that doesn’t make you bend or break any of those beliefs.
File that under my religion forbids me from working… now where’s my paycheck.

Sometimes the new guy at work just doesn’t fit in. Other times he just beats the crap out of people…
So what do you do when you run a Turkish hotel and keep finding out about your male employees having affairs with female guests? Well, why not fire all the men and hire an all female staff?
No followup for the story has been posted, but I wonder if now they receive a bunch of complaints about female staff winding up with male guests? I don’t know about you, but it sure sounded like the guests were getting some great treatment from the male employees. They don’t mention ever having complaints and do say the men were having “affairs” with the women, not harassing them or anything. I guess if the male staff neglected their duties because of their interactions with the guests, it’d be grounds for action. But to eliminate the all males rather than just the troublemakers? Wait… why am I complaining? A hotel filled with all women staff members may be a great draw for the establishment.
File that under full service hotel.
