Home Depot Employees Fired for Helping Catch Shoplifters

If you’re planning a career as an employee of Home Depot, keep in mind you could be fired for helping catch shoplifters. Of course, they’ve been known to give out commendations for helping the police in some instances, but it seems to be a coin flip whether or not you’ll be fired or praised.

The funniest part of the story comes from one of the fired employees saying “The loss-prevention guy at our Shields (Boulevard) store turned around and told me all we need to do is tell the shoplifter to have a good day as they leave the store.” That’s just too damn funny. Not only are you supposed to just let shoplifters go, you’re supposed to tell them to have a nice day!

File that under moving my shoplifting operation to Home Depot.

I worked with an employee in Jacksonville fl that was fired for stopping a thief. He is one heck of a worker. Always there to help his fellow worker. We all have done the same thing that he did and have been patted on the back. This time it was a knife in the back. We at Lem turner store have called in our concerns about this. Just Sat the 23rd one our people was called to assist an LP guy in hand cuffing a guy. Now were is the justice in that.
