Got a Jerk for a Boss?

If you’ve got a jerk for a boss, Robert Sutton has some painfully obvious advice for you and your company. What is that amazing advice that helped land his book on the best seller list?

Sutton’s main advice says that companies should - drumroll please - try to not hire jerks. Ahh… but what if a company already hired some? Don’t worry, he covers that, he says that those companies should remove them from the company.

Now, if you work for a jerk and your company doesn’t have his amazing best seller that tells them to fire the jerk, he has some great advice for you as well - leave your job. You don’t want to just quit? Again, he has you covered. In the case that you don’t want to leave your job, you should just check out emotionally.

There, don’t you feel all warm and fuzzy now? Can’t you just see the corporate world ridding itself of all jerks and making the workplace a happier place? No? You see through all the bullshit? Well… good for you.

File that under thank you captain obvious.
