Term 7: Office Time Continuum

Office Time Continuum:
The scientific phenomenon relating to the time distortion experienced in the office environment; commonly resulting in a slowing of time.

While the space-time continuum refers to time as the 4th dimension with a 3 dimensional “space”, the office time continuum refers to how time itself is altered in the office environment. This anomaly generally takes the form of a slowing of time, an effect that seems to be restricted to the office.

Employees experience this phenomenon on a regular basis. They usually find that leaving the office in the middle of the day (for lunch for example) causes time to rapidly speed up; almost as if it needs to “catch up” to the correct time. As soon as employees return to the office, however, time slows back down until they leave at the end of the day.

Scientists have tried to determine the cause of this, but as their research is done in an office, their progress is affected by the very phenomenon they study.
