Okay, so companies aren’t required to allow their employees to bring their dog to work for tomorrow’s “Bring Your Dog To Work Day”, but it is a real occasion that’s celebrated by many companies.
According to the article, almost one in five U.S. companies allow pets in the office. Now, it doesn’t mention what kind of pets, so it probably includes animals like fish. However, the article does say that thousands of companies are moving towards “dog friendly” work environments, where employees can bring their dogs and other pets to work with them.
An online survey by Simply Hired and Dogster revealed that a third of dog owners would take a 5 percent pay cut if they could bring their pets to work. It also showed that two-thirds would work longer hours while half would even switch jobs if it meant they could bring their pets to work with them.
I, for one, would absolutely love having dogs at work, even if they weren’t mine. It’d be incredibly fun and relieve a lot of stress to be able to play with an animal at the office once in awhile. I’ve been wanting to get a dog for awhile now, but with a full time job I’d have to leave the dog at home for 10+ hours a day. If I were allowed to bring dogs to work, I’d probably go out and get one today!
File that under this needs to be a federal law.
