I bet you never knew that driving while distracted increases the risk of accidents. Yes, I know. Shocking.
I absolutely love the title of the linked article "Driving While Stupid Ups Risk". My sentiments exactly. I've always hated driving while on the cell phone, and recently started doing it for a bit on my commute home. I definitely found myself not as aware or ready to react so I no longer mess with my cell phone while driving. It was a week long trial and I'll have no more of it (and no, I wasn't in any accidents or anything, I just noticed that it definitely does affect your driving).
Anybody that says cell phones, or putting on makeup, or eating, or whatever else doesn't distract them is either lying or just plain wrong. Now, I don't think we should necessarily make it illegal to talk on the cell phone while driving, and it isn't that big of a deal in most situations, but I can't even begin to count the number of times somebody nearly hit me because they were on their cell phone yapping.
Okay, rant off.
File that under cell phone addicts beware.
