Term 4: Synergistic Chaos

Synergistic Chaos:
The setting or system in which all parts work together to create the most disorder and confusion possible.

The work environment, with every process being over complicated, is generally filled with workers running around with their heads cut off. These workers combine with the backwards protocols and procedures to ensure that things get done in the slowest, most cost-ineffective way possible.

A key example deals with how each department’s communication problems compare to the classic telephone game. In the workplace, one department tells another a set of requirements, with that deparment forwarding it on to the next, then down the ladder to the individual. Each step loses or misunderstands at least a portion so that the final instructions are almost the exact opposite of the original.

The office is but an elaborate system in which all the pieces come together in a very specific way to create synergistic chaos.

sidenote: The overuse of the word synergy is a classic example of Verbiage Methodology.
